Accounting Manager/Supervisor

We are looking for an experienced accounting leader to support financial operations for a long-term contract opportunity based in California. This role is ideal for someone who is detail oriented and brings strong technical accounting knowledge, sound judgment, and the ability to provide structure in a fast-moving environment. The position will oversee core accounting activities, help ensure accurate reporting, and communicate financial insights clearly to leadership.

Responsibilities:

• Direct the monthly closing cycle to ensure financial results are completed accurately and on schedule.

• Oversee general ledger activity, including review of entries, balances, and supporting documentation.

• Manage account reconciliations and resolve discrepancies through timely analysis and follow-up.

• Prepare and review financial reports to support business decisions and leadership visibility.

• Coordinate audit readiness efforts by organizing records, responding to requests, and supporting external review processes.

• Strengthen accounting procedures and internal controls to promote accuracy, consistency, and compliance.

• Provide day-to-day guidance to accounting staff or cross-functional partners involved in financial processes.

• Analyze accounting issues, identify practical solutions, and adapt priorities as business needs evolve.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.

• At least 7 years of progressive accounting experience, including oversight or team leadership responsibilities.

• Previous experience in a senior-level accounting role such as Controller, Accounting Manager, Assistant Controller, or a comparable position.

• Strong command of month-end close, general ledger management, account reconciliation, and journal entry review.

• Working knowledge of financial statement preparation, audit support, and internal control practices.

• Ability to operate independently and make sound decisions in an environment with limited structure.

• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, including the ability to present financial information to executive leadership.

• Experience with Great Plains and Paycom preferred.
