Senior Human Resources (HR) Generalist

Compensation: $28 to $29 Hourly

We are looking for an experienced Senior Human Resources (HR) Generalist to provide hands-on support for a government organization in Charlotte, North Carolina. This Long-term Contract position calls for an experienced HR specialist who can step in quickly, strengthen day-to-day operations, and partner with the team across core human resources functions. The role will contribute across areas such as recruitment, employee relations, onboarding, benefits coordination, leave administration, and HR systems support while helping maintain consistent service during a busy period.

Responsibilities:
• Provide senior-level HR support across employee relations, recruitment activities, onboarding coordination, and general human resources administration.
• Advise managers and staff on workplace concerns, policy interpretation, and appropriate employee relations practices.
• Coordinate hiring-related processes, including candidate movement, pre-employment steps, and associated documentation.
• Support benefit-related activities and serve as a resource for employees with questions involving available programs and services.
• Administer leave processes, including FMLA and other employee support matters, while ensuring accurate records and timely follow-up.
• Maintain and update employee information within HRIS and Workday, helping preserve data accuracy and efficient workflow processing.
• Assist with performance review administration and other recurring HR programs that require cross-functional coordination.
• Partner with internal HR team members to help manage operational priorities, including tasks connected to ongoing system-related changes when needed.

Qualifications:

• Significant experience working as an HR Generalist with the ability to operate independently in a senior-level support capacity.
• Strong background in employee relations, including handling sensitive workplace matters with sound judgment and professionalism.
• Demonstrated knowledge of HR administration, onboarding practices, and benefit functions.
• Experience using HRIS platforms, including Workday or comparable systems, to manage employee data and HR processes.
• Familiarity with leave administration, including FMLA, and the ability to support employees through related procedures.
• Ability to work effectively in an on-site environment while collaborating closely with HR colleagues and operational stakeholders.
• Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills in a fast-paced public sector or similarly regulated setting.

Compensation

$28.00-$29.00 Hourly
