Legal Assistant

Allentown, PA 18101-1501, US Contract
Compensation: $19.79 to $22.91 Hourly

We are looking for a Legal Assistant to join a busy legal team in Pennsylvania on a contract basis with the potential to become permanent. This position supports attorneys through strong file management, high-quality document preparation, and dependable coordination of deadlines and daily administrative activities. The ideal candidate brings prior law firm experience, excellent communication skills, and the ability to keep multiple matters organized in a fast-paced office environment.

Responsibilities:
• Prepare, update, and format a wide range of legal materials, including pleadings, motions, discovery documents, letters, and other case-related correspondence.
• Maintain attorney calendars, track critical dates, and help ensure court deadlines, meetings, and other commitments are met on time.
• Handle court filings electronically in state, federal, and appellate courts while confirming accuracy and compliance with filing procedures.
• Open and organize new matters, assist with conflict-check processes, and create engagement documentation for new client representations.
• Manage incoming mail and route documents promptly to the appropriate attorneys or team members.
• Serve as a point of contact for clients, court personnel, and attorneys by providing timely and effective communication.
• Support monthly billing activities by assisting with time entry, invoice preparation, and related administrative tasks.
• Keep case files and legal records organized while providing day-to-day administrative support to attorneys as needed.

Qualifications:

• 3-5 years of experience working as a Legal Assistant or Legal Administrative Assistant within a law firm environment.
• Hands-on experience with electronic filing procedures for Pennsylvania state courts and federal courts.
• Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially advanced Microsoft Word features such as document comparison, redlining, complex formatting, tables of contents, tables of authorities, and hyperlinking.
• Experience using document management systems to store, retrieve, and organize legal records.
• Demonstrated ability to manage calendars, coordinate deadlines, and support civil litigation matters with accuracy and attention to detail.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, along with strong organizational and computer abilities.
• Ability to work effectively in an office setting, remain focused amid interruptions, and handle multiple priorities with a high level of professionalism.

Compensation

$19.79-$22.91 Hourly
