Engagement Manager

We are looking for an experienced, detail-oriented accounting specialist to support equity-related financial reporting and compliance activities for a long-term contract opportunity based in San Francisco, California. This position focuses on quarter-end close, disclosure preparation, proxy-related reporting, and audit support tied to equity transactions and reporting obligations. The role is remote and is best suited for someone who can work independently, maintain strong documentation standards, and deliver accurate results under demanding reporting deadlines.

Responsibilities:
• Lead equity-related close activities at quarter-end, ensuring account balances are recorded accurately and completed within reporting deadlines.
• Prepare and review equity disclosures for periodic reporting, partnering with investor relations and audit stakeholders to support external reporting requirements.
• Manage equity content included in the annual proxy filing, confirming completeness, consistency, and alignment with applicable reporting standards.
• Coordinate audit requests connected to equity processes, including walkthrough support, control documentation, and preparation of requested schedules and evidence.
• Maintain detailed workpapers and supporting records for equity accounting conclusions, reporting packages, and compliance deliverables.
• Work independently after initial onboarding to prioritize deliverables, resolve issues, and keep projects moving with minimal oversight.
• Contribute significantly during quarter-end, year-end, and proxy cycles, with more limited hours expected between major reporting periods.
• Communicate clearly with cross-functional partners to address questions, confirm reporting inputs, and support timely completion of deliverables.

Qualifications:

• Strong technical accounting knowledge related to stock-based compensation, including ASC 718.
• Hands-on experience managing equity accounting and related disclosure reporting responsibilities.
• Background supporting audits, including control walkthroughs, prepared-by-client requests, and compliance documentation.
• Excellent attention to detail with the ability to produce accurate work in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to document processes and conclusions clearly.
• Ability to follow established procedures carefully while also working independently with limited supervision.
• Prior external or internal audit experience is highly desired.
• Previous experience with a Big 4 accounting firm is strongly preferred.

Compensation

$65.00-$70.00 Hourly
