Tax Manager

Our client in the Upper Fairfield County area has an immediate need for a Tax Manager. This is a Contract position suited for someone who can manage multiple return types with accuracy and sound judgment. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical tax knowledge and the ability to work efficiently during high-volume filing periods.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare and examine federal, state, and local tax filings for individual and business clients to ensure completeness and accuracy.

• Oversee the review of corporate and partnership returns, identifying issues, resolving discrepancies, and confirming compliance with applicable tax rules.

• Manage a portfolio of tax engagements, prioritizing deadlines and maintaining organized documentation throughout the filing cycle.

• Research tax matters and apply current regulations to support accurate reporting and informed recommendations.

• Collaborate with internal stakeholders or clients to gather financial data, clarify open items, and address return-related questions.

• Provide quality control across filings by checking calculations, supporting schedules, and source documentation before submission.

• Utilize tax software tools, including UltraTax when applicable, to prepare, review, and finalize returns efficiently.

Qualifications:

• Demonstrated experience preparing and reviewing individual and business tax returns.
• Strong working knowledge of corporate income tax and partnership tax filings.
• Ability to interpret tax regulations and apply them accurately across a range of return types.
• High level of accuracy, organization, and attention to detail in a deadline-driven environment.
• Experience using tax preparation software; familiarity with UltraTax is beneficial but not required.
• Excellent communication skills for coordinating with clients and team members on tax-related matters.

Compensation

$55.00-$65.00 Hourly
