Job Description:

The School of Engineering, Computing and Construction Management (SECCM) at Roger Williams University invites applications for a full-time Lecturer of Construction Management. This is a full-time, fixed-term, non-tenure-track faculty appointment. The successful candidate will contribute to the continued growth and excellence of the Construction Management program through high-quality instruction, academic advising and mentoring, student engagement, industry collaboration, and service to the program, school, and university.

The Lecturer will teach undergraduate Construction Management courses and support the program's mission of preparing students for leadership roles throughout the construction industry. Consistent with the Collective Bargaining Agreement between Roger Williams University and the Roger Williams University Faculty Association, the principal responsibilities of this position include instruction, academic advising and mentoring, and service.

The Construction Management program at Roger Williams University prepares students to become innovative, ethical, and industry-ready construction professionals through a blend of small-classroom instruction, hands-on learning, and close engagement with industry partners. Our ACCE-accredited program serves approximately 300 undergraduate students and offers a graduate certificate in Construction Management. Faculty enjoy the opportunity to teach highly engaged students, collaborate with dedicated colleagues, develop innovative curriculum, pursue scholarship, and build strong relationships with leading construction firms throughout New England and beyond. The program fosters a collaborative, student-centered culture that values mentorship, professional engagement, and preparing the next generation of leaders in the construction industry.

Teaching

• Teach undergraduate courses in Construction Management.
• Develop, maintain, and update course materials consistent with program learning outcomes.
• Deliver engaging classroom, laboratory, field-based, and technology-enhanced instruction.
• Assess student learning and maintain academic records in accordance with University policies.
• Participate in curriculum development, assessment activities, and accreditation support efforts.
• Maintain regular office hours and provide timely academic support to students.

Academic Advising and Mentoring

• Serve as an academic advisor for Construction Management students.
• Mentor students regarding academic planning, internship opportunities, career readiness, and professional development.
• Support student retention, success, and graduation initiatives.
• Foster an inclusive and supportive learning environment.

Industry Engagement and Experiential Learning

• Develop and maintain productive relationships with construction industry partners.
• Support experiential learning opportunities including internships, site visits, guest speakers, and industry-sponsored projects.
• Incorporate current construction methods, technologies, safety practices, and project delivery approaches into coursework.
• Promote workforce readiness and professional engagement among students.

Student Organizations and Competition Teams

• Advise and mentor Construction Management student organizations.
• Support and coach student teams participating in Associated Schools of Construction (ASC) competitions and similar professional competitions.
• Encourage student participation in professional organizations and industry networking opportunities.

Service

• Participate in program, school, and university committees and service activities.
• Assist with student recruitment, outreach, orientation, retention, and open house events.
• Support program assessment, accreditation activities, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Contribute positively to the mission and goals of SECCM and Roger Williams University.

Job Requirements:

• Master's degree in Construction Management, Construction Engineering, Civil Engineering, Architecture, Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
• Minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in the U.S. construction industry.
• Demonstrated expertise in one or more areas of construction management practice.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, organizational, and presentation skills.
• Commitment to excellence in teaching, advising, mentoring, and student success.
• Ability to work effectively with students, faculty, staff, alumni, and industry partners.

Preferred Qualifications

• Significant professional experience in commercial, residential, or infrastructure construction.
• Prior college-level teaching, training, or workforce development experience.
• Professional certifications or credentials such as CCM, PMP, PE, DBIA, LEED AP, OSHA certifications, or equivalent.
• Experience with construction industry software including estimating, scheduling, BIM, project management, and construction documentation systems.
• Experience advising student organizations or coaching academic competition teams.
