Accounts Payable Specialist

We are looking for an Accounts Payable Specialist to join a services organization in Worcester, Massachusetts on a Contract basis. This position focuses on accurate invoice handling, payment processing, and consistent support of day-to-day accounts payable operations. The ideal candidate brings strong attention to detail, works efficiently with financial records, and helps maintain timely and accurate disbursements.

Responsibilities:
• Review, classify, and enter vendor invoices with the correct accounting codes to support accurate financial reporting.
• Process accounts payable transactions from receipt through payment while maintaining organized and complete documentation.
• Prepare and distribute ACH payments and assist with scheduled check runs to ensure vendors are paid on time.
• Verify invoice details against internal records and resolve discrepancies with appropriate stakeholders before payment is issued.
• Maintain payable files, payment records, and supporting documentation in a clear and audit-ready manner.
• Communicate with vendors and internal teams regarding payment status, invoice questions, and account issues.
• Monitor open items and follow up on outstanding invoices to help keep the payment cycle current.
• Support routine reconciliation activities related to accounts payable entries and disbursement records.

Qualifications:

• Experience supporting accounts payable functions in a business or office environment.
• Working knowledge of invoice coding and account classification within an AP process.
• Hands-on experience processing ACH transactions and coordinating check payments.
• Ability to review financial documents carefully and enter data with a high degree of accuracy.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple invoices and deadlines effectively.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills for interacting with vendors and internal departments.
• Proficiency with standard accounting systems and Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel.

Compensation

$23.75-$27.50 Hourly
