Sr. Accountant

Compensation: $26 to $36 Hourly

We are looking for an experienced Sr. Accountant to support a client in Tennessee with day-to-day accounting operations, financial reporting, and tax-related work. This contract position with potential for a permanent opportunity is ideal for someone who enjoys managing multiple sets of books, improving financial accuracy, and working directly with clients to address accounting needs. The role requires strong judgment, attention to detail, and the ability to keep records organized while delivering dependable service.

Responsibilities:
• Oversee accounting activity for multiple entities, ensuring transactions are recorded accurately and financial records remain current.
• Prepare financial statements, supporting schedules, and other reports that help maintain clear visibility into business performance.
• Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable processes, including timely posting, tracking, and follow-up.
• Complete bank and general ledger reconciliations and investigate discrepancies to maintain reliable accounting data.
• Handle month-end close tasks, including preparing journal entries and reviewing balances for accuracy.
• Examine client QuickBooks files, identify areas that require correction, and develop practical plans for ongoing maintenance.
• Prepare individual and corporate tax returns while applying federal, state, and local requirements appropriately.
• Evaluate financial documents to determine tax treatment, identify eligible deductions or credits, and explain tax-related matters to clients.
• Maintain organized documentation for financial activity, tax records, and client communications while responding to inquiries professionally.

Qualifications:

• 3+ years of progressive experience in accounting, bookkeeping, or finance.
• Strong working knowledge of general ledger activity, journal entries, month-end close, and account reconciliation.
• Experience completing bank reconciliations and maintaining accurate financial records across multiple accounts or entities.
• Proficiency with QuickBooks Desktop, QuickBooks Online, Microsoft Office, and tax preparation software such as ProSeries.
• Familiarity with accounting principles, including debits, credits, budgeting, and financial statement preparation.
• Background in preparing individual and corporate tax returns is preferred.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and communicate effectively with clients.

Compensation

$26.00-$36.00 Hourly
