Staff Accountant

We are looking for a Staff Accountant to join a respected community-focused organization in Topsham, Maine. This permanent opportunity is well suited for a detail-oriented accounting candidate who enjoys maintaining accurate financial records, supporting close activities, and contributing to a collaborative finance function. The position offers strong benefits and the chance to play a meaningful role in day-to-day accounting operations.

Responsibilities:
• Manage general ledger activity by recording and reviewing financial transactions to support accurate reporting.
• Prepare journal entries and complete account reconciliations to maintain the integrity of financial data.
• Assist with month-end closing tasks, including analysis of balances and resolution of variances.
• Support audit preparation by organizing documentation and responding to financial information requests.
• Contribute to grant-related accounting work when applicable, including tracking and reporting on designated funds.
• Help ensure financial records comply with internal standards and established accounting practices.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business, or a closely related field.
• At least 3 years of experience in general ledger accounting.
• Hands-on experience preparing journal entries and reconciling balance sheet accounts.
• Working knowledge of month-end close procedures and financial statement support activities.
• Familiarity with audit processes and preparing schedules or supporting documentation.
• Experience with grant accounting is beneficial.
• Proficiency with general ledger accounting software and related financial systems.

Compensation

$75,000.00-$85,000.00 Yearly
