Accounts Payable Clerk

We are looking for an Accounts Payable Clerk to support a non-profit organization in Saint Louis, Missouri. This Contract position is ideal for someone with hands-on experience managing invoice workflows, maintaining accurate coding, and assisting with timely payment processing. The role requires strong attention to detail, reliability, and the ability to keep financial records organized in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:
• Review incoming invoices for accuracy, completeness, and proper approval before entering them into the payment process.
• Assign appropriate account codes to invoices and related documents to support accurate financial tracking and reporting.
• Process vendor invoices in a timely manner while maintaining organized records and resolving discrepancies when needed.
• Prepare and support regular check runs to ensure payments are issued correctly and on schedule.
• Communicate with internal staff and external vendors to clarify billing questions and address payment-related issues.
• Maintain accounts payable files and documentation in accordance with organizational standards and audit readiness expectations.

Qualifications:

• At least 2 years of experience in accounts payable or a closely related accounting support role.
• Practical experience handling invoice coding, invoice entry, and payment processing activities.
• Familiarity with check run procedures and standard accounts payable controls.
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage a high volume of transactions accurately.
• Ability to organize work effectively, meet deadlines, and follow established financial procedures.
• Proficiency in basic accounting systems and standard office software used for financial recordkeeping.

Compensation

$18.21-$21.09 Hourly
