Attorney/Lawyer
Responsibilities:
• Meet with clients to understand family, financial, and legacy goals and translate those priorities into practical legal solutions.
• Prepare and refine estate planning instruments such as wills, powers of attorney, advance healthcare directives, and a range of trust documents.
• Create individualized strategies that address wealth transfer, long-term asset protection, and related planning considerations.
• Advise clients and beneficiaries through probate, trust settlement, and other estate administration matters from start to finish.
• Evaluate financial and personal information to support recommendations that align with each client’s circumstances and objectives.
• Explain legal options and consequences in straightforward language so clients can make informed planning decisions with confidence.
• Partner with paralegals and support staff to coordinate document production, maintain organized files, and keep matters moving efficiently.
• Keep case information, billing entries, and documentation current within the firm’s practice management systems.
• Monitor legal and regulatory developments affecting trusts, estates, tax planning, and elder law, and apply updates to client matters.
• Contribute to outreach and growth efforts by supporting educational events, relationship-building activities, and other community-facing initiatives.
Qualifications:
• Juris Doctor from an accredited law school.• Active license to practice law in Maryland, or ability to secure admission promptly.
• At least 3 years of experience handling estate planning and trust-related matters.
• Demonstrated ability to draft high-quality estate planning documents, including revocable and special needs trusts.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to build trust with clients.
• Proven capacity to manage several active matters at once while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
• Comfort working closely with a collaborative legal team in a client-focused environment.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications; familiarity with Clio or WealthCounsel is beneficial.
Compensation
