Fiscal Compliance Supervisor

Pittsburgh, PA 15212, US Temporary

We are looking for a Finance Supervisor to lead financial oversight for grants, contracts, and funded programs in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. This contract position will serve as a key advisor to program and operational leaders, helping ensure accurate reporting, sound budgeting, and adherence to funding requirements across multiple revenue sources. The role also guides compliance operations, strengthens internal controls, and supports continuous improvement in fiscal processes and team performance.


Responsibilities:

• Lead the day-to-day fiscal compliance function for grant- and contract-funded activities, ensuring dependable oversight across assigned programs and business areas.

• Manage and coach accounting team members by setting priorities, reviewing deliverables, and encouraging cross-training and ongoing development.

• Direct the preparation and review of contract billings, reimbursement submissions, and financial reports to confirm accuracy, completeness, and timeliness.

• Interpret award terms and funding regulations, then provide practical guidance to internal stakeholders on allowable costs, documentation standards, and reporting obligations.

• Monitor budgets, forecasts, spending patterns, and funding usage to identify concerns early and recommend corrective action when needed.

• Partner with program leaders and department management to support financial planning, improve fiscal decision-making, and align operations with compliance expectations.

• Coordinate responses for audits, monitoring reviews, site visits, and funder requests by organizing documentation and addressing financial compliance questions.

• Develop and refine procedures, reference materials, and workflow standards that improve consistency, accountability, and operational efficiency.

• Participate in process improvement efforts and system-related enhancements that strengthen reporting capabilities, internal controls, and financial stewardship.


Qualifications:

• 5+ years of experience in finance, fiscal oversight, or accounting, including work with grant- or contract-funded programs.
• Demonstrated knowledge of financial reporting, financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and month-end close activities.
• Experience supporting compliance for federal, state, local, or private funding sources, including interpretation of funding requirements.
• Background in nonprofit accounting or a similarly regulated funding environment.
• Strong ability to review invoices, reimbursement requests, and supporting documentation with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
• Proven supervisory experience with responsibility for staff development, workload management, and quality review of financial work products.
• Proficiency in identifying financial risks, evaluating spending trends, and communicating actionable recommendations to leadership.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional stakeholders and funding agencies in a detail-focused, service-oriented manner.
