Sr. Accountant
Key Responsibilities
Support and execute a 3-day monthly close process, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.
Analyze financial information related to assets, liabilities, equity, revenues, and expenses in accordance with GAAP and company policies.
Prepare and post journal entries to accurately reflect financial transactions and account activity.
Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations and investigate and resolve account variances.
Support monthly accounting activities related to overhead allocations, labor variances, and purchase price variances.
Maintain, analyze, and update accounting records and assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
Ensure the accuracy, consistency, and completeness of financial reporting and supporting schedules.
Assist with internal and external audit requests, including preparation of schedules, supporting documentation, and account analyses.
Support preparation of information required for federal and state tax filings.
Coordinate and maintain the fixed asset ledger, including additions, disposals, transfers, and depreciation calculations.
Prepare and analyze reports related to account reconciliations, inventory, fixed assets, expenditures, compliance, and tax matters.
Serve as a key accounting resource for cross-functional departments throughout the organization.
Support annual budgeting processes and year-end financial and tax package preparation.
Participate in special projects, process improvements, and other accounting initiatives as assigned.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
5+ years of progressive accounting experience.
Public company accounting experience required.
Experience supporting monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting within a SOX-compliant environment.
Proven ability to operate successfully in a 3-day close environment.
Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, account reconciliations, and month-end close processes.
Experience with fixed assets, inventory accounting, and variance analysis.
Advanced Excel skills required.
Systems Experience
Experience with a large-scale ERP system is required, such as:
NetSuite
SAP
Oracle
Microsoft Dynamics GP (Great Plains)
JDE (JD Edwards) experience is a plus.
