Routing Specialist

We are looking for a Routing Specialist to support logistics operations in South Gate, California. This contract opportunity with potential for a permanent role is ideal for someone who excels at coordinating freight movement, organizing routing activity, and using data to keep transportation plans on track. The person in this role will work closely with internal teams and external partners to maintain efficient shipment flow, address service issues quickly, and support day-to-day transportation performance.

Responsibilities:
• Build and adjust transportation routes to improve delivery timing, equipment utilization, and overall operational efficiency.
• Use Microsoft Excel and business systems to monitor shipment activity, maintain reports, and analyze transportation data for daily decision-making.
• Partner with drivers, dispatch personnel, warehouse teams, and customer-facing contacts to keep freight moving according to schedule.
• Track loads throughout the shipping process and respond quickly to disruptions, delays, or service exceptions.
• Maintain organized records related to routing activity, shipment status, billing details, and transportation costs.
• Communicate updates clearly with internal departments and outside service partners to support smooth coordination across the network.
• Follow company procedures and applicable transportation or customs-related requirements to help ensure compliant operations.
• Support logistics workflows across platforms such as Cargowise, CRM tools, ERP systems, and other operational applications as needed.

Qualifications:

• Previous experience in routing, transportation coordination, or logistics support within a freight, trucking, or distribution environment.
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including the ability to work with formulas, lookups, pivot tables, and shipment tracking data.
• Familiarity with logistics and business platforms such as Cargowise, CRM systems, ERP solutions, or similar operational tools.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced setting while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
• Effective communication skills with a customer service mindset and the ability to collaborate across teams.
• Solid problem-solving and organizational abilities when handling scheduling changes, shipment issues, and operational follow-up.
• Working knowledge of billing processes, transportation documentation, and customs-related coordination is a plus.

Compensation

$22.80-$26.40 Hourly
