Database Developer

We are looking for an experienced Database Developer to join a Long-term Contract assignment in Indianapolis, Indiana. This role focuses on building and supporting data integrations tied to an hours-tracking and invoicing environment, with a strong emphasis on accuracy, validation, and dependable data movement. The ideal candidate is a hands-on engineer who can work independently, collaborate directly with business stakeholders, and translate operational needs into practical data solutions.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and maintain two-way data integrations with the Databricks platform to support operational and financial workflows.

• Ingest key source data such as clients, services, jobs, time entries, and invoices, ensuring reliable processing of incremental updates and changing source structures.

• Transform incoming data through structured pipeline layers and load curated, validated datasets into target business domains for downstream use.

• Create outbound processes that return approved updates, including cash receipt information, to source applications to support accounts receivable activities.

• Apply strong data validation, reconciliation, and quality controls to confirm completeness, consistency, and business accuracy across integrations.

• Partner with end users, data owners, and stakeholders to gather requirements, define expected outcomes, and resolve edge cases before implementation.

• Build and maintain database objects, schema changes, and data models within Databricks, Unity Catalog, and SQL Server environments following established standards.

• Support deployment and release workflows through version control, automated pipelines, testing, and promotion across development through production environments.

• Design solutions that handle restartability, backfills, and failure recovery while proactively monitoring for data volume, source, and quality issues.

• Produce dashboards or reporting views that help stakeholders review integrated data and track business activity.

Qualifications:

• 7+ years of experience in database development, data engineering, or ETL-focused roles.
• Strong hands-on experience with Databricks, including development of data pipelines and curated data layers.
• Proficiency with Microsoft SQL Server, Microsoft SQL, T-SQL, and stored procedure development.
• Experience with Python for data processing, automation, and integration-related development.
• Solid understanding of data modeling, data validation, and data quality practices, including Master Data Management concepts.
• Ability to work directly with business users and stakeholders to clarify requirements and convert them into technical solutions.
• Experience using Git, GitHub, CI/CD processes, and automated deployment practices in a controlled engineering environment.
• Demonstrated self-direction, problem-solving ability, and a practical engineering mindset focused on execution rather than high-level architecture alone.

Compensation

$59.38-$68.75 Hourly
