Human Resources (HR) Generalist

We are looking for an experienced Human Resources (HR) Generalist to join a manufacturing operation in Gardena, California on a contract basis to provide leave coverage. This role is well suited to someone who can quickly take ownership of daily HR activities, work with minimal supervision, and support a workforce that includes both represented and non-represented employees. The position requires a practical, hands-on, detail-oriented individual who can balance employee support, compliance, payroll coordination, and reporting in a fast-paced plant environment. This assignment may continue beyond the initial term based on operational needs.

Responsibilities:

• Manage daily human resources operations for plant-based employees while handling sensitive matters with discretion and care.

• Process payroll activities through ADP Workforce Now, including regular review of time records and accurate payroll administration.

• Track attendance patterns, apply attendance guidelines consistently, and support corrective action processes when needed.

• Provide HR support to union and non-union employees, including hourly and salaried team members.

• Interpret collective bargaining agreement provisions to help address employee questions and workplace concerns.

• Respond to employee inquiries related to benefits, pay, company policies, and general employment matters.

• Work closely with plant leadership to address employee relations issues and assist with personnel-related decisions.

• Prepare recurring HR reports, maintain workforce data, and keep employee files accurate and compliant with company and legal standards.

• Support onboarding and other core HR administrative processes to ensure smooth day-to-day department operations.

Qualifications:

• At least 3 years of Human Resources Generalist experience, preferably within a manufacturing, plant, or industrial setting.
• Demonstrated experience processing payroll using ADP Workforce Now.
• Background supporting unionized environments, including exposure to collective bargaining agreements; experience with non-union populations is also valued.
• Working knowledge of California employment laws and established HR compliance practices.
• Strong ability to manage employee relations matters, resolve issues effectively, and exercise sound judgment.
• Proven ability to work independently and stay organized in a fast-moving operational environment.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills, along with solid reporting and Microsoft Office capabilities, especially Excel.
• Bilingual Spanish language skills are highly preferred.

Compensation

$33.00-$42.00 Hourly
