Accounts Payable Specialist – Full-Time Engagement Professional

Robert Half is seeking a detail-oriented Accounts Payable Specialist for a full-time engagement opportunity with one of our valued clients. This role is ideal for an accounting professional with experience in high-volume invoice processing, vendor management, payment processing, and account reconciliations. The ideal candidate is organized, accurate, and committed to maintaining efficient accounts payable operations while providing exceptional internal and external customer service.

Responsibilities

• Process a high volume of vendor invoices accurately and in a timely manner
• Review invoices for proper approvals, coding, and supporting documentation
• Match invoices with purchase orders and receiving documentation when applicable
• Prepare and process weekly check runs, ACH payments, and wire transfers
• Reconcile vendor statements and resolve invoice discrepancies
• Maintain accurate vendor records, including W-9 documentation and payment information
• Respond to vendor inquiries regarding payment status and account activity
• Assist with month-end close activities, including accruals and accounts payable reconciliations
• Ensure compliance with company policies, internal controls, and accounting procedures
• Support year-end activities, including preparation of 1099 reporting
• Identify opportunities to improve accounts payable processes and increase operational efficiency

Qualifications:

Qualifications

• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred
• 2–5 years of accounts payable or general accounting experience
• Strong understanding of accounts payable processes and accounting principles
• Experience processing high-volume invoices in a fast-paced environment
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting or ERP systems
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
• Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and consistently meet deadlines
• Excellent communication and customer service skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with ERP systems such as NetSuite, SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, or Workday
• Knowledge of three-way matching, purchase order processing, and expense reporting
• Experience with electronic invoice workflow and automated AP systems
• Familiarity with 1099 reporting requirements and vendor compliance
