We are seeking a full-time Laboratory Manager in the laboratory of Dr. Daniel Clark. The laboratory has a focus in mucosal immunology and age-related innate immune dysfunction. The laboratory utilizes experimental mouse model systems and performs a variety of immunological and molecular biology experiments including cell and tissue culture, RNA sequencing and analysis, immunohistochemistry, and flow cytometry. The laboratory manager will work closely with the PI and be responsible for the daily functions of the laboratory. Administrative duties will include maintaining compliance with IACUC and other health and safety policies, ordering and maintaining laboratory supplies, reagents, and equipment, and assisting and overseeing other lab members and students. The candidate will also be responsible for performing experiments and generating and analyzing data. Additionally, the laboratory manager will be expected to perform mouse husbandry and perform surgical procedures using experimental mice models.
The candidate should be able to work independently, be detailed-orientated, and able to work well with members of the laboratory and with outside collaborators. Previous experience working in a laboratory and experience handling rodents is preferred. The candidate must have three years of previous laboratory experience. A bachelor’s degree in the biologic sciences field or substitution of equivalent relevant experience is required.

Essential Functions
Job Duties/Responsibilities/essential functions
The Laboratory Manager will be responsible for the daily functions of the laboratory which will include ordering supplies, maintaining laboratory compliance with IACUC, EH&S, and other required policies. They will also assist and train other laboratory members and students.
The Laboratory Manager will be responsible for performing experiments, generating data, and completing data analysis. The experimental work will largely involve immunological and biomolecular laboratory techniques using primary cells and tissues isolated from mice.
The Laboratory Manager will also be responsible for maintaining the mouse colony and performing experiments using mouse models. This work will include ordering mice and ensuring their delivery to the correct campus facilities, ensuring the health and maintenance of the colony, performing surgical procedures and post-op care on mice, and collecting tissue and cells at completion of the experiment.
Physical Effort
Moderate physcal effort required. May be required to stand/move for several hours at a time. May be required to move objects up to 50 pounds with or without assistance of equipment.
