Graphic Designer

Perform a variety of duties involved in the design and layout of printed and graphic materials; perform routine and complex duties in the preparation of printing specifications.

Work Performed

• Prepare design layouts and specifications for posters, booklets, brochures and other printed and graphic materials.

• Maintain a consistent identity of the University of Pittsburgh by following the departmental brand guidelines while meeting University’s marketing requirements

• Meet with SSW partners as needed to develop design concepts, gather information, discuss alternatives, gain approval and review publications.

• Maintain liaison with SSW partners to communicate job specifications and ensure deadlines are met.

• Keep abreast of recent developments and technologies in the graphic arts field.

• Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

Education/Training

Work requires the ability to perform skilled and creative graphic arts functions generally acquired through two years post-secondary training in graphic or commercial arts or a related field.

Experience

Work generally requires 5-10 years of graphic arts or related experience to acquire knowledge of and skill in design and layout methods and techniques.

Or an equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience.
