POSITION SUMMARY:
The Financial Analyst, Retail Performance supports the financial performance, operational decision-making, and strategic planning of the Donated Goods & Retail Division. This role serves as a key business partner to Retail Operations, providing financial insights, performance reporting, forecasting, and analytical support across stores, donation centers, and post-retail operations.
A primary focus of this role is identifying and improving underperforming stores, regions, and operational sites. The Financial Analyst will proactively surface performance gaps, diagnose root causes, and partner with field leadership to develop and track actionable improvement plans.
This role also plays a key part in supporting and evaluating operational pilot initiatives as part of our process improvement culture. The Financial Analyst will define and standardize KPIs, establish baselines, and conduct ROI analysis to determine effectiveness and scalability of new programs.
This position translates data into action—analyzing sales, labor, production, inventory flow, and cost drivers to identify trends, risks, and opportunities—helping drive accountability, consistency, and continuous improvement across the retail network.

External Hiring Range: $55,000-$60,000/year
Schedule: Monday - Friday,
Travel: Occasional travel may be required.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Included but not limited to:
Financial Analysis & Reporting:
- Analyze weekly and monthly financial results, highlighting trends, variances, and key drivers of performance.
- Identify underperforming stores and operational sites and escalate risks with clear, actionable recommendations.
- Deliver weekly and periodic “flash” reporting to support timely decision-making in a fast-paced retail environment.
- Build and maintain financial models and reporting tools to improve visibility into store and regional performance.
Budgeting, Forecasting & Planning:
- Support capital planning and ROI analysis for store initiatives, equipment, and operational investments..
- Incorporate pilot program assumptions and performance trends into forecasts and planning models.
- Support the annual budget process for the Retail Division, including revenue, labor, and expense planning.
Auditing and Reporting:
- Track specific recruitment metrics to support the Talent Acquisition teams curated key performance indicators.
- Pull data compiled during inquiry investigations to identify the root cause of delays or discrepancies.
- Own the creation and (or) maintenance of recruitment and hiring data trackers.
- Prepare hiring reports for the Talent Acquisition Supervisor and submit them for review in a timely manner.
- Maintain complete and accurate records in the HRIS + ATS platform.
- Audit requisitions and other hiring data points for accuracy and compliance.
- Assist with special talent acquisition projects as needed.
Retail & Operational Performance Support:
- Analyze inventory flow from donation intake through retail and post-retail channels, including sell-through and salvage rates.
- Analyze labor productivity metrics such as sales per labor hour and payroll as a percentage of sales.
- Partner directly with store and field leadership to interpret performance and drive action plans.
Data Management & Systems:
- Extract, validate, and analyze data from financial systems, POS systems, and operational databases.
- Build and maintain reporting tools using Excel, Power BI, or similar platforms.
- Collaborate with Finance and IT to enhance reporting capabilities and system integration.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Years of Experience:
- Associate’s degree and 5 year of relevant experience.
- Bachelor’s degree and 3 years of relevant experience.
- Master’s degree and 2 years of relevant experience.
Required:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to translate data into actionable insights
- Experience with financial reporting, forecasting, and variance analysis
- Ability to communicate effectively with both financial and nonfinancial stakeholders
- Demonstrated ability to identify performance gaps and support operational improvement efforts
REQUIRED CLEARANCES, Lt ICENSES, AND CERTIFICATIONS:
- Candidates are expected to complete background checks assigned by Goodwill SWPA, including a National Criminal Background check, prior to their first day of employment.
