Position Summary
The Sr. Director, Enterprise IT Services (EITS) is the senior leader responsible for Internet2's internal IT strategy, infrastructure, and technology operations. This role oversees the organization's enterprise technology portfolio, including cloud and SaaS solutions, enterprise applications, AI technologies, cybersecurity, infrastructure, and IT service delivery. The Sr. Director, EITS leads technology strategy, budgeting, governance, vendor management, and the strategic adoption of AI and emerging technologies to improve operational efficiency, support innovation, and ensure secure, reliable, and cost-effective technology services.
Serving as a liaison to the Executive Leadership Team (ELT) and stakeholders across the organization, the Sr. Director, EITS translates business strategy into technology roadmaps, orchestrates a diverse technology portfolio while balancing internal capabilities with outsourced services, manages enterprise vendors and production systems, and ensures technology solutions remain secure, scalable, and aligned with organizational goals. This role will work to provide a reliable network/computing environment for Internet2’s distributed functional groups, projects, and programs and ensures the IT infrastructure is dependable and cost efficient. Success requires strong leadership, effective communication, and a commitment to modern IT service management practices and continuous improvement.

Strategic Enterprise IT Services (EITS) Leadership
Develop and execute enterprise IT strategy, governance, budgets, and technology roadmaps that align with organizational priorities while driving innovation, implementing industry best practices and emerging technologies, cybersecurity, and operational excellence through a remote work environment.
Partner with Chief Operating & Financial Officer on departmental strategy, enterprise IT roadmap, technology investment strategies, and large project decisions.

Technology Infrastructure & Operations
Lead enterprise IT infrastructure, cloud services, AI capabilities, end-user technologies, and technology operations, ensuring secure, scalable, and efficient service delivery across Mac, Linux, and Windows environments.
Maintain enterprise IT support and help desk operations, providing timely remote and in-person technical support while coordinating technology services across distributed office locations.
Prepare and deliver user training and security awareness programs to support the company's information security initiatives.

Enterprise Application Portfolio Management
Oversee the strategy, governance, and lifecycle of over 100+ enterprise applications and SaaS platforms to maximize business value, strengthen service management, optimize support resources, and create and deliver presentations on technology strategy, roadmaps, and portfolio updates to drive alignment.

Cross-Functional Technology Leadership
Partner across IT, software engineering, and business functions to align technology solutions, foster collaboration, resource planning, and support enterprise initiatives across multiple divisions.

Vendor & Resource Management
Direct technology sourcing, vendor partnerships, licensing, and resource strategies to optimize investments, service delivery, and operational efficiency while ensuring documentation, procedures, contracts, and licenses are accurately maintained.

Team Leadership & Development
Lead and develop a high-performing team of technical professionals through mentorship, knowledge sharing, and continuous learning, fostering peer collaboration, technical excellence, and strategic workforce planning to address evolving organizational needs and optimize team effectiveness.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, or a related field (or an equivalent combination of education and experience).
15+ years of progressive experience in enterprise IT, including IT service delivery, IT operations, infrastructure, application support, systems implementation, enterprise architecture, and/or information security.
10+ years of senior IT leadership experience leading enterprise-wide IT operations, developing technology strategy, and managing budgets.
Demonstrated experience leading technical teams through organizational change, resource constraints, and evolving business needs, making difficult decisions while maintaining team engagement, transparency, and operational effectiveness.
Experience developing enterprise IT strategy and leading enterprise IT operations across hybrid environments, including traditional infrastructure, cloud platforms, SaaS applications, and distributed workforces, while implementing modern IT service management practices aligned with organizational goals.
Knowledge of enterprise architecture, process modeling, systems analysis, software development lifecycle (SDLC), communications platforms, virtual networking, and business process reengineering.
Experience managing enterprise technology vendors, strategic sourcing, outsourced service providers, contract negotiations, and service level agreements.
Working knowledge of information security, identity and access management (IAM), network architecture, and cloud infrastructure services (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s degree (MBA, MIS, or technology related).

Relevant Certifications (not required):
ITIL Foundation or higher
Project Management Professional (PMP) or equivalent
Cloud platform certifications (AWS, Azure, GCP)
Relevant vendor-related certifications (Salesforce, NetSuite, ADP, etc.)
Experience in higher education.
Knowledge of academic and/or non-profit academic institutions.
Understanding of project management principles and practices.
Experience in organizations with software development capabilities.

Expected Hiring Range: $175,300 – $197,200
Starting salary is commensurate and may vary with experience and education.
Pay Grade: IT-7
For pay transparency purposes, the full salary range is: $175,300 – $263,000
