Staff Accountant
Responsibilities:
• Manage invoice processing, payment preparation, and supporting accounts payable activities to help ensure timely and accurate vendor disbursements.
• Maintain organized vendor files and accounting documentation while partnering with internal stakeholders to apply correct expense coding.
• Prepare cash and check deposits, gather transaction data from donor and payment systems, and record activity in QuickBooks Online.
• Reconcile deposits and bank activity to confirm completeness and accuracy of recorded financial transactions.
• Complete bank and credit card reconciliations and post recurring journal entries such as prepaid expenses and fee accruals.
• Assist with month-end schedules, balance sheet support, and other close-related documentation required by the finance team.
• Contribute to audit readiness, account reconciliation projects, and efforts to strengthen accounting workflows and process documentation.
• Provide cross-functional and administrative support as needed, including taking initiative to resolve issues and progress work with limited direction.
Qualifications:
• At least 2 years of experience in bookkeeping or staff accounting roles.• Hands-on experience using QuickBooks Online in an accounting environment with strong attention to detail.
• Working knowledge of accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger activity, journal entries, and reconciliations.
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including the ability to use Pivot Tables and VLOOKUPs effectively.
• Ability to work across multiple systems and handle high volumes of financial information with accuracy.
• Excellent organizational skills, close attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple deadlines.
• Strong communication, analytical thinking, and problem-solving abilities in a collaborative setting.
• Nonprofit accounting experience, including exposure to restricted funds or grant-related accounting, is preferred.
