Controller
Responsibilities:
• Direct daily accounting activities across payables, receivables, payroll, and general ledger functions to maintain accurate and timely financial records.
• Oversee month-end close activities, including account analysis, journal entries, reconciliations, and preparation of internal financial statements.
• Manage cash positioning and banking activity by reviewing disbursements, monitoring balances, and completing bank reconciliations.
• Develop and maintain short-term cash flow projections, including a rolling 15-week forecast, and provide payment and collection recommendations to leadership.
• Support financial reporting needs by producing reliable reports that reflect operating results and overall financial performance.
• Ensure accounting processes tied to inventory, job costing, and project-related transactions are recorded correctly within the system.
• Administer payroll processing and related accounting entries while helping maintain compliance with established procedures.
• Partner with administrative and data entry support staff to improve accuracy, organization, and workflow efficiency across accounting operations.
Qualifications:
• Prior experience performing at the Controller level with strong ownership of full-cycle accounting and month-end close is a MUST.
• Solid background in financial reporting, general accounting operations, and account reconciliation.
• Demonstrated experience in cash management, including forecasting, payment scheduling, and liquidity planning.
• Working knowledge of accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll administration, and bank reconciliation processes.
• Experience using QuickBooks Enterprise and familiarity with comparable construction-related and inventory-related accounting platforms.
• Understanding of job costing, construction accounting, estimating support, and project-based financial tracking.
• Ability to work onsite in Grand Rapids, Michigan for a 3 to 6 month engagement with a mid-next-week start.
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to operate independently in a part-time contract environment.
