Payment Processor
We are looking for a detail-oriented Payment Processor to support financial assistance operations for a nonprofit organization in Richfield, Minnesota. This Long-term Contract opportunity is fully onsite and is well suited for someone who combines strong customer service skills with accuracy in handling financial transactions and documentation. The person in this role will help applicants navigate assistance programs while ensuring payments, records, and eligibility details are processed correctly and efficiently.
Responsibilities:
• Assist applicants with completing rental assistance and county support paperwork, explaining program steps clearly and professionally.
• Review submitted information for completeness, confirm eligibility details, and organize supporting financial documentation.
• Determine approved assistance amounts based on program guidelines and prepare payments for distribution to property owners.
• Process invoices and payment transactions accurately, including verification, posting, and coordination of online or incoming payments.
• Maintain organized records of applications, approvals, and disbursements to support audit readiness and policy compliance.
• Perform detailed cross-checks to identify discrepancies, reduce payment errors, and support fraud prevention efforts.
• Communicate with landlords, applicants, and internal team members to resolve payment questions and documentation issues promptly.
• Use internal systems to enter, update, and track financial and case-related information in a timely manner.
Qualifications:
• At least 1 year of experience in payment processing, accounts payable, invoice handling, or a related administrative finance role.• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to provide high-quality service in a people-focused environment.
• Confidence working with confidential financial and personal information while maintaining accuracy and discretion.
• Proficiency with technology and the ability to learn new software, payment platforms, and tracking systems quickly.
• Experience supporting tasks such as invoice coding, check runs, payment verification, or posting payments is preferred.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced onsite setting while maintaining attention to detail.
• Bilingual communication skills are strongly preferred.
Compensation
