Senior Accountant

Compensation: $65 to $80 Yearly

We are looking for an experienced Senior Accountant to support a portfolio of mission-driven and nonprofit-focused clients in Richmond, Virginia. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys managing core accounting activities across multiple engagements while maintaining accuracy, consistency, and strong client service. The role offers the opportunity to take ownership of essential financial processes and contribute to reliable reporting for several organizations.

Responsibilities:
• Oversee day-to-day accounting activities for a group of approximately five client accounts, with an emphasis on nonprofit and purpose-driven organizations.
• Lead monthly close activities by reviewing financial data, preparing adjusting entries, and ensuring reporting deadlines are met.
• Maintain the accuracy of the general ledger through detailed review, posting support, and timely correction of discrepancies.
• Prepare and record journal entries related to recurring transactions, accruals, reclasses, and other month-end adjustments.
• Complete account reconciliations on a regular basis to verify balances and resolve outstanding items efficiently.
• Perform bank reconciliations by comparing cash activity to financial records and investigating variances.
• Use QuickBooks to manage accounting records, produce financial information, and support ongoing client reporting needs.

Qualifications:

• Proven experience working in a senior-level accounting role with responsibility for full-cycle accounting functions.
• Hands-on proficiency with QuickBooks in an accounting environment.
• Strong knowledge of month-end close procedures, general ledger maintenance, and journal entry preparation.
• Demonstrated ability to perform account reconciliations and bank reconciliations with a high degree of accuracy.
• Experience supporting multiple clients or business entities simultaneously while managing competing priorities.
• Familiarity with nonprofit, mission-driven, or service-based environments is strongly preferred.
• Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and written and verbal communication abilities.

Compensation

$65,000.00-$80,000.00 Yearly
