Grocery Department Manager

Robert Half is partnering with a well-established specialty grocery retailer in Carlsbad that is looking for an experienced Grocery Department Manager to oversee daily department operations. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who enjoys leading people, delivering exceptional customer service, and creating an organized, well-stocked shopping experience. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader who thrives in a fast-paced retail environment and takes pride in developing high-performing teams.

Responsibilities

Department Leadership

• Supervise, train, and motivate grocery department associates
• Schedule staff to meet business and customer demand
• Monitor daily department operations and ensure excellent customer service
• Coach team members on merchandising, stocking, and company standards
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe department

Inventory & Operations

• Manage inventory levels and place product orders
• Monitor product quality, freshness, and expiration dates
• Implement merchandising plans and promotional displays
• Minimize product loss through proper inventory controls
• Assist with department budgeting and sales performance goals

Qualifications:

• 2+ years of grocery, retail, or supermarket management experience
• Previous leadership or supervisory experience required
• Strong customer service and communication skills
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work a flexible retail schedule
• Experience with inventory management and merchandising preferred
• Positive leadership style with strong organizational skills
