Property Accountant

A well-established commercial real estate investment and property management company is seeking an experienced Property Accountant to oversee the financial operations of a diverse portfolio of office, retail, and industrial properties. This position offers broad exposure to property accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, and owner reporting while working alongside an experienced finance team.

The ideal candidate enjoys managing multiple properties, maintaining accurate financial records, and partnering with property managers to support day-to-day operations.

What You'll Do

Property Accounting

• Prepare monthly financial statements for an assigned property portfolio
• Complete bank reconciliations, journal entries, and balance sheet reconciliations
• Manage month-end and year-end closing activities
• Reconcile tenant accounts and oversee CAM and operating expense reconciliations
• Assist with annual budgets and financial forecasting

Financial Administration

• Review lease activity and ensure accurate accounting treatment
• Coordinate with property managers regarding financial performance
• Support external audits and year-end reporting requirements
• Recommend improvements to accounting processes and internal controls

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline preferred
• 3+ years of property or commercial real estate accounting experience
• Strong working knowledge of Yardi Voyager or similar property management/accounting software
• Experience performing full-cycle accounting, account reconciliations, and month-end close
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities
• Able to manage multiple deadlines while maintaining exceptional accuracy
• Professional communication skills with a client-focused mindset and the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively
