Senior Accountant – Aviation Services

A premier private aviation company is seeking a Senior Accountant to join its growing finance team in Carlsbad. This position offers the opportunity to work in a dynamic, fast-moving environment supporting the financial operations of a company that provides private charter and aviation management services. You'll collaborate with leadership across finance, maintenance, flight operations, and client services while helping ensure the accuracy and integrity of the organization's financial reporting.

What You'll Do

Corporate Accounting

• Prepare and review monthly journal entries, reconciliations, and financial statements
• Lead month-end and year-end close activities
• Analyze operating expenses and investigate financial variances
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow reporting
• Maintain the general ledger and ensure compliance with accounting standards

Operational Support

• Partner with flight operations and maintenance teams to reconcile operational expenses
• Monitor aircraft-related costs and vendor activity
• Improve accounting workflows and reporting processes
• Assist with external audits and compliance documentation
• Develop financial reports for executive leadership

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
• 3–5+ years of progressive accounting experience
• Previous experience within aviation, transportation, logistics, or other asset-intensive industries is highly desirable
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills with the ability to analyze and manipulate large data sets
• Experience using QuickBooks Online, NetSuite, Sage Intacct, or similar ERP/accounting software
• Exposure to aviation management software or operational systems is a plus
• Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across multiple departments
• Excellent analytical abilities, attention to detail, and ability to meet recurring financial deadlines
• CPA candidate or public accounting background is a plus
