Sr. Accountant (TAX)
We are looking for an experienced Sr. Accountant (TAX) to join a public accounting team in Encino/Pasadena California. This position supports a diverse client base with tax compliance, financial reporting, and advisory services for both individuals and businesses. The ideal candidate brings strong technical accounting knowledge, sound judgment, and the ability to manage deadlines while working both independently and collaboratively.
Responsibilities:
• Manage the preparation and review of federal and multi-state tax filings for individuals, corporations, and partnerships, ensuring accuracy and timely submission.
• Analyze client financial information to support tax planning strategies and provide practical guidance for business and individual tax matters.
• Lead audit, review, and compilation engagements and help deliver financial statements that meet high-quality standards.
• Maintain accounting records through general ledger activity, journal entries, bookkeeping support, and monthly account reconciliations.
• Complete bank reconciliations and investigate discrepancies to help ensure the accuracy of client financial data.
• Identify opportunities to improve tax outcomes for clients by offering forward-looking recommendations and planning insights.
• Monitor updates in tax legislation and regulatory requirements to support compliance and inform client advice.
• Coordinate priorities effectively, balancing independent ownership of assignments with teamwork to meet filing and reporting deadlines.
Qualifications:
• Demonstrated experience preparing and reviewing partnership, corporate, and individual tax returns, including multi-state filings.• Strong knowledge of general ledger accounting, journal entries, month-end close activities, and account reconciliation processes.
• Hands-on ability to perform bank reconciliations, maintain accurate books, and support financial statement engagements.
• Understanding of annual income tax provision concepts and related tax accounting practices.
• Familiarity with tax research and the ability to apply changing tax rules to client situations.
• Ability to manage multiple deadlines with strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
• Effective communication skills and the ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment.
Compensation
