Sr. Accountant
We are looking for an Accountant to join a Financial Services organization in California. This Long-term Contract opportunity is well suited for someone with venture capital experience who can balance fund and corporate accounting work while maintaining responsive, detail-oriented communication with investors and service partners. The position calls for strong attention to detail, sound judgment, and the ability to keep multiple accounting priorities moving in a fast-paced investment environment.
Responsibilities:
• Manage daily accounting activities across fund and corporate entities, ensuring transactions are recorded accurately and supporting documentation is properly maintained.
• Handle investor inquiries with urgency, providing clear updates and coordinating responses with internal stakeholders and external partners as needed.
• Prepare and post journal entries, maintain general ledger accuracy, and support a timely and well-organized month-end close process.
• Perform account and bank reconciliations, investigate variances, and resolve discrepancies to keep financial records complete and reliable.
• Assist with fund accounting activities tied to capital calls, distributions, investor reporting, and related documentation.
• Partner with service providers and cross-functional teams to help deliver accurate financial information and meet reporting deadlines.
• Organize and maintain accounting records in a manner that supports audit readiness, transparency, and efficient retrieval of information.
• Contribute to ongoing accounting operations by tracking multiple deliverables, following through on open items, and helping improve day-to-day workflow efficiency.
Qualifications:
• 3+ years of accounting experience, preferably within venture capital, private equity, investment management, or a related financial services environment.• Hands-on experience with month-end close, general ledger maintenance, and preparation of journal entries.
• Strong background in account reconciliation and bank reconciliation with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
• Working knowledge of fund accounting principles and investor-related financial processes, including capital activity and reporting support.
• Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with investors, internal teams, and third-party service providers.
• Proven organizational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-moving setting.
• Proficiency in maintaining structured financial records and supporting accurate, complete accounting documentation.
