Staff Accountant
Responsibilities:
• Oversee daily accounting transactions across payables and receivables, ensuring timely processing, accurate records, and consistent follow-up on outstanding items.
• Complete monthly and annual close tasks by preparing journal entries, recording accruals, and supporting the finalization of general ledger activity.
• Reconcile bank accounts, balance sheet accounts, and supporting sub-ledgers to confirm accuracy and resolve discrepancies promptly.
• Prepare financial statements and other reporting packages, then review results to highlight trends or variances for management.
• Maintain the general ledger structure by monitoring account usage, applying proper coding, and posting accounting activity with precision.
• Assist with compliance-related activities by supporting audit requests, maintaining documentation, and contributing to tax-related reporting requirements.
• Identify opportunities to streamline accounting workflows and strengthen internal processes for greater efficiency and accuracy.
• Provide support for ad hoc financial requests and collaborate with internal stakeholders on accounting and payroll-related matters as needed.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.• At least 3 years of accounting experience in a staff accountant or similar role.
• Demonstrated experience working with journal entries, general ledger maintenance, accounts payable, and accounts receivable.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including the ability to work with functions such as pivot tables and lookup formulas.
• Familiarity with accounting systems and the ability to learn new financial platforms quickly.
• Strong understanding of core accounting principles, financial reporting, and account reconciliation practices.
• High level of accuracy, sound analytical ability, and the capacity to manage responsibilities independently while partnering with a team.
• CPA certification, progress toward certification, or exposure to industry-specific accounting environments is considered an advantage.
