Staff Accountant

We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join a construction-focused accounting team in Corona, California. This role supports day-to-day financial operations with an emphasis on receivables, payables, certified payroll, and compliance while helping maintain accurate records across the general ledger. The ideal candidate brings strong accounting fundamentals, practical experience in construction finance, and the ability to monitor outstanding balances, resolve billing issues, and contribute to timely reporting.

Responsibilities:
• Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable activities, ensuring invoices, payments, and account records are processed accurately and on schedule.
• Review aging reports, identify overdue balances, and drive collection efforts by prioritizing high-risk accounts and documenting follow-up actions.
• Reconcile receivable activity to the general ledger and investigate discrepancies to support accurate month-end and year-end close processes.
• Prepare and process certified payroll records in accordance with project requirements and applicable labor regulations.
• Support construction accounting functions, including tracking retention, monitoring contract-related billing items, and following up on delayed releases.
• Maintain compliance with financial policies, tax obligations, and reporting standards relevant to construction operations.
• Record journal entries and assist with general ledger maintenance to ensure financial data remains complete and reliable.
• Produce recurring reports and key performance metrics for management related to receivables, collections, and overall account status.

Qualifications:

• Experience in staff accounting with hands-on responsibility for both accounts payable and accounts receivable.
• Working knowledge of construction accounting, including retention and certified payroll practices.
• Ability to analyze AR aging, evaluate payment trends, and take appropriate action on delinquent accounts.
• Familiarity with general ledger reconciliations, journal entries, and supporting month-end accounting activities.
• Understanding of corporate tax, sales tax, and corporate tax return support requirements.
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage compliance-related documentation accurately.
• Effective communication skills for handling collections, resolving invoice disputes, and coordinating with internal and external stakeholders.

Compensation

$80,000.00-$105,000.00 Yearly
