Accounts Payable Specialist

We are looking for an Accounts Payable Specialist to join a growing finance team in Lynnwood, Washington on a contract basis with the potential for a permanent position. This role is well suited to someone with early-career accounts payable experience who enjoys managing high invoice volume, maintaining accurate vendor records, and partnering with internal teams to keep payments on track. You will play an important part in day-to-day payables operations while supporting process accuracy, timely disbursements, and overall accounting efficiency.

Responsibilities:
• Process a high volume of vendor invoices, credits, and account adjustments with accuracy and proper coding.
• Prepare payment batches, including ACH and check runs, to ensure vendors are paid according to established timelines.
• Reconcile vendor statements and research outstanding items, discrepancies, and payment status questions.
• Review employee expense submissions and corporate card activity for completeness, policy compliance, and correct accounting treatment.
• Coordinate with internal departments to secure approvals, confirm purchase order matches, and resolve invoice exceptions.
• Maintain organized subsidiary ledger schedules and update vendor account records to support accurate reporting.
• Handle incoming mail related to payables and assist with check deposits when needed.
• Contribute to audit readiness by gathering documentation and supporting requests from accounting leadership.
• Provide backup coverage for other accounts payable team members and assist with analysis of vendor spending and payment history.
• Support the adoption of new tools and process improvements within the accounts payable function as needed.

Qualifications:

• 1-2 years of accounts payable experience, including invoice processing in a fast-paced environment.
• Working knowledge of full-cycle AP procedures, including account coding, invoice entry, ACH payments, and check runs.
• Ability to manage a large invoice volume while maintaining strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Experience reviewing vendor accounts, resolving discrepancies, and following up on payment issues.
• Comfortable using accounting systems and computer applications to process transactions and maintain records.
• Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills with a solid aptitude for numbers.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
• No degree is required; relevant practical experience in accounts payable is preferred.

Compensation

$43.70-$50.60 Hourly
