Dispatcher

Position: Dispatcher (temp)

Location: Oakland, CA

Schedule: Full Time Monday - Friday

Duration: 3-6 months

We're seeking a highly organized and customer-focused Dispatcher to support daily operations by coordinating routes, communicating with drivers and customers, and ensuring efficient service delivery. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys problem-solving, and can effectively manage multiple priorities while maintaining excellent customer service standards.

The successful candidate will serve as a key communication hub between drivers, operations, customers, and management to ensure safe, timely, and efficient execution of daily schedules.

Key Responsibilities

• Coordinate and dispatch drivers, vehicles, and service assignments to ensure timely completion of scheduled routes.
• Monitor daily operations and proactively address service disruptions, schedule changes, delays, or emergency situations.
• Communicate with drivers throughout the day regarding routes, customer requests, service issues, and schedule adjustments.
• Respond to customer inquiries and provide timely updates regarding service status and scheduling.
• Track vehicle locations, route progress, and operational performance using dispatch and GPS tracking systems.
• Prepare, distribute, collect, and review route documentation, service tickets, and operational reports.
• Assist with planning and optimizing routes to improve efficiency and customer satisfaction.
• Coordinate vehicle maintenance scheduling and communicate equipment issues to the appropriate teams.
• Maintain accurate records related to fleet operations, vehicle maintenance, customer requests, and driver activity.
• Support accident reporting, safety initiatives, DOT compliance efforts, and incident documentation.
• Assist with logistics coordination, shipment tracking, and special projects as assigned.
• Collaborate with customer service, warehouse, safety, maintenance, sales, and operations teams to support business objectives.

Qualifications:

Qualifications

• 1-3+ years of dispatch, logistics, transportation, customer service, operations, or related experience preferred.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to manage high call volume and multiple priorities simultaneously.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
• Strong problem-solving abilities and ability to make decisions under pressure.
• Ability to work independently while functioning effectively within a team environment.
• Knowledge of the Bay Area and local roadways is highly desirable.

Technical Skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Excel, and Word.
• Experience using dispatching, routing, GPS tracking, fleet management, or logistics software preferred.
• Ability to learn and utilize transportation and operations management systems.
• Comfortable using multi-line phones, radios, and other communication equipment.

Preferred Experience

• Transportation, fleet, logistics, delivery, waste management, moving services, or field operations experience.
• Experience coordinating routes, scheduling field personnel, or managing driver communications.
• Familiarity with fleet compliance, vehicle maintenance tracking, and operational reporting.
• Customer service experience handling escalations and resolving issues in real time.
