Job Description:

Summary:


Responsible for the welding jobs assigned, work on making a quality product, meet company deadlines, work toward standards of job assignments and work in clean safe manner.

Regular hour schedule for this this position is Monday – Thursday 5:00 AM – 3:30 PM with ½ hr lunch each day. Overtime is scheduled when needed, extending into Fridays and on occasion Saturdays.  Overtime is typically shorter workdays when scheduled. 

What You Will Do

  • Setting up welding machines and welding various thicknesses and types of steel.
  • Maintain welding equipment and tools
  • Set up dies
  • Build parts to order
  • Operate cutting torch, stud and spot welders, handheld cutting torch, stick and wire welders, overhead hoists, drills, grinders, buffers, and sand blasters
  • Read and understand blueprints
  • Execute proper clamping of welded structures
  • Complete paperwork assignments accurately
  • Other duties as assigned

What We Are Looking For

Education and Experience:

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Welding experience

Knowledge:

  • Knowledge of welding techniques
  • Basic computer knowledge

Skills:

  • Time management
  • Leadership and People
  • Strong problem solving
  • Avery Weigh-Tronix will provide specific training for the following specialized processes:

    • Hoist & Forklift Training

  • Perform essential functions and key duties with minimal supervision
  • Constantly lift or move average to heavy weight material in difficult work positions

Physical Requirements

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and talk or hear. The employee is required to constantly use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, lift, and reach with hands and arms. Specific vision abilities required by this job include normal vision.  Other physical requirements include:

• Ability to physically move or assist in moving equipment
• Stand – 33% - 66% of time
• Walk – 33% - 66% of time
• Sit – up to 33% of time
• Use of hands – 66%+ of time
• Reach of hands and arms – 66%+ of time
• Climb or balance – 5% of time
• Stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl – 5% of time
• Lifting up to 10 lbs – 10% of time
• Lifting up to 25 lbs – 5% of time
• Lifting up to 50 lbs – 5%of time
• Able to wear safety (steel- or composite-toed) shoes during entire shift
• Able to wear hearing protection during entire shift

Other abilities:  Ability to follow instructions (English) from sources such as work orders, work aids, blueprints, sales orders and other employees.  Good training retention.   Must be able to collaborate with team members of all backgrounds in a positive & productive manner.  Strong work ethic and self-motivation with minimal supervision.  Ability to consistently report to station on time. Quality oriented. Required to follow all safety and company policy rules. 

Education: High school graduate or equivalent

Availability: Desire to participate in voluntary overtime when offered.  Ability to self-manage paid time off including proper requests and maintaining sufficient balance.

Pay Range: $23.34 – $24.50 per hour
