Accounting Manager/Supervisor

Galveston, TX 77554, US Full Time
Compensation: $100 to $110 Yearly

We are looking for an experienced accounting leader to support financial operations for a construction-focused organization in Galveston, Texas. This role partners closely with senior finance leadership and accounting team members to deliver accurate reporting, maintain compliance, and strengthen day-to-day accounting processes. The ideal candidate brings strong technical accounting knowledge, leadership capability, and the ability to manage deadlines in a fast-moving environment.

Responsibilities:
• Lead the preparation and consolidation of monthly financial statements and related reporting packages to ensure timely and accurate results.
• Partner with general ledger staff during the month-end process, including review of reconciliations and follow-up on balance sheet variances.
• Perform bank account reconciliations, investigate inconsistencies, and communicate issues requiring resolution to finance leadership.
• Prepare and review journal entries related to cash activity, payroll, and intercompany transactions while maintaining proper supporting documentation.
• Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable activities to promote accuracy, strong controls, and on-time completion of deliverables.
• Coordinate audit support for annual financial reviews as well as governmental, state, and insurance-related examinations.
• Help establish and refine accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls to improve reporting quality and operational consistency.
• Provide guidance, training, and day-to-day leadership to accounting staff and serve as a resource to divisional teams on accounting practices.
• Contribute to system testing and training efforts tied to accounting platform implementation activities, and support special projects and ad hoc analysis as needed.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related discipline.
• At least 5 years of experience in an accounting management or comparable leadership role.
• Demonstrated background in financial statement preparation and monthly close activities.
• Strong working knowledge of general ledger accounting, account reconciliations, and journal entry processing.
• Experience in construction accounting, preferably within a general contractor or subcontractor environment, is preferred.
• Clear verbal and written communication skills with the ability to work effectively across teams.
• Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to review both personal work and team output for accuracy.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel, Word, Outlook, and Teams; experience with ERP/accounting systems is preferred.

Compensation

$100,000.00-$110,000.00 Yearly
