Staff Accountant
Responsibilities:
• Contribute to month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities by preparing entries, recording accruals, and completing balance sheet reconciliations.
• Maintain the integrity of the general ledger for multiple business units and support the delivery of reliable internal financial reports and statements.
• Handle day-to-day accounts payable and accounts receivable tasks, including invoice review, customer billing, payment application, collections follow-up, and vendor disbursements.
• Coordinate AP and AR processes across various locations to promote timely processing, stronger oversight, and consistent execution.
• Review outstanding receivables and work with operational partners to improve collection efforts and reduce aging balances.
• Evaluate accounting workflows to uncover inefficiencies and help implement practical improvements in invoicing, cash collection, and payment processing.
• Identify issues related to accrual accounting and revenue or expense recognition, then assist in applying corrective actions to improve accuracy.
• Create and refine accounting procedures, support internal control enhancements, and help prepare the organization for audit-related requirements.
• Assist with bringing newly acquired entities into established accounting practices, including alignment of charts of accounts, policies, and reporting standards.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.• At least 2 years of accounting experience, preferably in a hands-on staff accounting environment.
• Working knowledge of journal entries, general ledger maintenance, and month-end close procedures.
• Experience supporting accounts payable, accounts receivable, or both within a multi-entity or multi-location setting.
• Solid understanding of accrual-based accounting and proper revenue and expense recognition.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with accounting platforms such as NetSuite, Sage, QuickBooks, or similar systems.
• Ability to identify process gaps, improve workflows, and support standardized accounting practices and controls.
