Accounts Receivable Specialist

We are looking for an Accounts Receivable Specialist to support a manufacturing organization in New York. This contract opportunity is ideal for a detail-focused individual who can manage receivables accurately, apply incoming payments, and maintain strong communication with customers regarding outstanding balances. The role will contribute to timely billing, consistent cash activity processing, and reliable account reconciliation in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:
• Manage daily accounts receivable operations, including reviewing open balances and maintaining accurate customer account records.
• Apply incoming payments promptly and correctly, ensuring cash receipts are posted to the appropriate accounts.
• Prepare and issue customer invoices while verifying billing details for accuracy and completeness.
• Follow up with commercial customers on overdue accounts and work toward timely resolution of outstanding balances.
• Reconcile payment activity and investigate discrepancies related to unapplied cash, short payments, or account differences.
• Monitor cash activity and maintain clear documentation to support reporting and audit readiness.
• Collaborate with internal teams to resolve billing questions, payment issues, and account inconsistencies.
• Support process updates and system-related changes as needed to help maintain continuity in receivables operations.

Qualifications:

• Experience handling accounts receivable functions in a detail-focused business environment.
• Working knowledge of cash application processes and daily cash posting activities.
• Background in commercial collections with the ability to communicate effectively regarding past-due balances.
• Familiarity with billing procedures and invoice review for accuracy.
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify and resolve account discrepancies.
• Proficiency with accounting systems and standard business software, including spreadsheet tools.
• Ability to organize multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced setting.

Compensation

$25.00-$26.50 Hourly
