Staff Accountant

We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to support day-to-day accounting operations for a growing organization in Ohio. This is a Contract position suited for a detail-oriented candidate with at least 2 years of experience who can manage core accounting tasks, maintain accurate financial records, and contribute to timely reporting. The ideal candidate brings a strong foundation in general ledger activity, journal entries, and tax-related work, along with familiarity with insurance accounting environments.

Responsibilities:
• Prepare and post journal entries to ensure financial transactions are recorded accurately and on schedule.
• Reconcile general ledger accounts and investigate discrepancies to maintain reliable financial data.
• Assist with corporate tax activities, including supporting tax return preparation and related documentation.
• Handle sales tax processes by reviewing transactions, maintaining compliance records, and supporting filings as needed.
• Participate in month-end accounting tasks to help deliver complete and accurate financial reporting.
• Work within SAP to enter, review, and manage accounting information efficiently.
• Support accounting operations tied to insurance-related financial activities and reporting requirements.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field.
• At least 2 years of accounting experience.
• Background in insurance accounting or familiarity with insurance industry practices.
• Experience preparing journal entries and maintaining general ledger accuracy.
• Knowledge of corporate tax concepts, including exposure to corporate tax returns.
• Familiarity with sales tax processes and related compliance activities.
• Experience using SAP in an accounting environment.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to manage deadlines in a contract assignment.

Compensation

$27.71-$32.09 Hourly
