Full Charge Bookkeeper

We are looking for an experienced Full Charge Bookkeeper to join a growing organization in Santa Ana, California on a Contract basis. This opportunity is ideal for a hands-on, detail-oriented accounting specialist who can step in quickly, bring structure to existing records, and strengthen the accuracy of day-to-day financial reporting. The role will focus on resolving accounting inconsistencies, supporting audit preparation efforts, and improving bookkeeping practices through practical process enhancements.

Responsibilities:
• Investigate account balances, identify inconsistencies, and resolve issues affecting the accuracy of financial records.
• Reconcile general ledger and balance sheet accounts to ensure transactions are properly recorded and supported.
• Prepare and enter journal entries to correct records and maintain complete accounting documentation.
• Organize and refine bookkeeping data to help the company prepare for an upcoming audit.
• Review current accounting workflows and introduce more effective procedures to improve control and efficiency.
• Manage accounting activities within QuickBooks Online, maintaining accurate and reliable financial information.
• Support month-end close tasks by completing reconciliations, gathering backup, and ensuring documentation is audit-ready.
• Recommend practical bookkeeping standards and internal control measures that support ongoing financial accuracy.

Qualifications:

• At least 5 years of bookkeeping or accounting experience in a complex business setting.
• Strong command of QuickBooks Online with the ability to work independently within the system.
• Solid knowledge of general ledger activity, balance sheet reconciliations, and journal entry preparation.
• Experience contributing to audit readiness or supporting audit preparation activities is preferred.
• Background in public accounting or work with an accounting firm is highly valued.
• CPA credential is a plus, but not required for candidates who bring strong hands-on accounting expertise.
• Ability to assess accounting problems quickly, take initiative, and deliver results with limited oversight.

Compensation

$30.00-$37.00 Hourly
