Staff Accountant
We are looking for a Staff Accountant to support core accounting activities for a growing organization in New York, New York. This position is well suited for an early-career accounting specialist who wants hands-on involvement across payables, receivables, reporting, and ledger maintenance. The role offers regular interaction with leadership and operational teams, providing broad exposure in a fast-moving business environment.
Responsibilities:
• Prepare journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations across cash, prepaids, and other key accounts
• Support the monthly, quarterly, and annual close and help tighten the close calendar
• Own day to day accounts payable and accounts receivable, including billing and vendor payments
• Maintain the general ledger and keep the chart of accounts clean and consistent
• Build reporting packages and variance analysis for leadership
• Support external audit, tax filings, and process improvements as the function scales
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
• At least 2 years of accounting experience, with prior exposure to public accounting viewed favorably.
• Working knowledge of accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger activity, journal entries, and month-end close procedures.
• Proficiency with QuickBooks and strong capability in Microsoft Excel.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work across leadership and project teams.
• Strong organizational skills, sound time management, and a collaborative approach to work.
Compensation
