Sr. Buyer
We are looking for an experienced Buyer to support procurement activities for a growing defense services operation in Cincinnati, Ohio. This Contract position will focus on securing materials, equipment, and services that keep manufacturing and operational schedules on track while balancing quality, cost, and delivery expectations. The role works closely with internal stakeholders and supplier partners to maintain dependable supply channels and support ongoing business needs.
Responsibilities:
• Lead purchasing activities for materials, equipment, and outside services by aligning orders with technical requirements and operational priorities.
• Build productive supplier partnerships that support reliable delivery, strong quality performance, and competitive pricing.
• Conduct commercial negotiations with vendors to improve cost, contract terms, and overall procurement value.
• Track inventory demand and purchasing patterns to help maintain appropriate stock levels without creating unnecessary surplus.
• Identify and assess new vendors and secondary sourcing options to strengthen supply continuity for critical items.
• Partner with engineering, production, and project teams to understand requirements and provide timely procurement support.
• Maintain purchasing records, issue purchase orders, and keep documentation accurate and organized for audit readiness.
• Review supplier results and address concerns related to lead times, pricing discrepancies, or product quality.
• Ensure procurement work follows company standards, contractual obligations, and applicable government purchasing regulations.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or a related discipline preferred; comparable relevant experience may be considered.• 2–5 years of experience in procurement, purchasing, or supply chain roles, ideally within manufacturing or defense-focused environments.
• Demonstrated ability to negotiate effectively and achieve favorable commercial outcomes.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to work effectively with suppliers and internal teams.
• Highly organized, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced setting.
• Experience using procurement systems and purchasing software, along with solid Microsoft Office proficiency.
• Understanding of government contracting expectations and regulated procurement environments is advantageous.
