Litigation Secretary
A respected Orange County law firm is seeking an experienced Litigation Secretary for a contract-to-hire opportunity. This role is ideal for a highly organized legal professional who thrives in a fast-paced litigation environment and has extensive experience supporting attorneys through all phases of litigation. The successful candidate will play a critical role in managing court filings, calendaring deadlines, preparing legal documents, and ensuring smooth day-to-day litigation support.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide administrative and litigation support to attorneys throughout all phases of litigation
- Prepare, format, proofread, and finalize pleadings, motions, discovery, correspondence, and other legal documents
- Manage attorney calendars, including court hearings, depositions, mediations, arbitrations, and trial dates
- Maintain litigation deadlines and ensure compliance with court rules and scheduling requirements
- File documents electronically in California state and federal courts
- Coordinate service of process and filing of legal documents
- Schedule depositions, meetings, court appearances, and client conferences
- Prepare hearing binders, exhibit sets, and trial materials
- Maintain and organize physical and electronic client files
- Communicate professionally with clients, opposing counsel, court personnel, vendors, and experts
- Track incoming and outgoing correspondence and manage attorney workflow
Qualifications:
Qualifications
- 3+ years of litigation secretary experience
- Strong knowledge of California state and federal court filing procedures
- Experience with e-filing, calendaring, and litigation document preparation
- Familiarity with court rules, deadlines, and legal terminology
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and legal case management systems
- Excellent proofreading, grammar, and document formatting skills
- Strong organizational and time-management abilities
- Ability to prioritize multiple assignments and meet competing deadlines
- Professional communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work on-site in the Irvine office five days per week
