About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior HR Generalist to independently own the full range of day-to-day HR operations for the organization. This is a hands-on, execution-focused role: you'll be the sole HR practitioner responsible for keeping benefits, compliance, HRIS, employee relations, and onboarding running smoothly and accurately day in and day out for a company of 80-100 global employees.

We’re looking for someone who acts as a thought leader within their day-to-day work, someone who stays current on best practices, brings informed recommendations on things like AI-enabled HR tools and global workforce considerations, and proactively flags issues and opportunities, even while focused primarily on getting the work done accurately and on time.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Administer day-to-day employee benefits programs: health, dental, vision, life insurance, wellness, and PTO (enrollments, changes, terminations, and employee questions)
  • Handle 401(k) administration including enrollment, employee support, plan compliance, and day-to-day vendor coordination
  • Partner with payroll/accounting to ensure accurate, on-time compensation delivery.
  • Serve as the point of contact keeping payroll informed of new hires, terminations, pay changes, and classification updates, ensuring payroll remains compliant and employees are paid accurately and on time
  • Maintain working familiarity with international deployment compensation elements, such as hardship/danger pay, cost-of-living allowances (COLA), housing/subsistence allowances, and other uplifts, and support accurate administration of these for employees deployed or stationed internationally

HR Compliance & Risk

  • Ensure day-to-day compliance with federal, state, and local labor laws (FLSA, ADA, FMLA, EEO), and maintain working familiarity with relevant international employment regulations for any global contractors or remote hires
  • Perform routine audits (I-9, personnel files, record retention) and follow through on corrective actions
  • Maintain accurate employee classification (W-2 vs. 1099, exempt vs. non-exempt), including classification nuances for international or cross-border workers/contractors
  • Support internal audits, legal reviews, and regulatory reporting (ACA, EEO-1)
  • Stay current on emerging compliance topics, including regulatory developments around AI use in employment decisions (e.g., EEOC guidance, state AI-in-hiring laws), and flag relevant risks to leadership as they come up

HR Systems & Analytics

  • Maintain and administer the HRIS system (Paylocity) day-to-day: employee records, workflows, and dashboards
  • Generate routine reports and metrics for leadership: headcount, turnover, time-to-fill, and workforce planning data
  • Keep an eye on HR trends and bring forward practical, actionable suggestions for improvement
  • Bring a thought-leader mindset to AI-enabled HR tools, including day-to-day use of and recommendations around:
  • AI-assisted applicant screening and resume parsing within the ATS
  • AI chatbots or self-service tools for employee HR inquiries
  • Using Paylocity's native AI features and researching other relevant HR tech
  • Generative AI tools to help draft policies, job descriptions, offer letters, and communications (with appropriate human review)
  • Flagging considerations for responsible, compliant, and bias-aware use of AI in HR processes, and raising these to leadership as needed
  • Use automation and workflow tools to streamline everyday HR processes including onboarding, offer letters, and performance tracking

Employee Relations & Culture

  • Provide day-to-day support and guidance to managers and employees on policy interpretation, disciplinary procedures, and conflict resolution
  • Maintain and update the employee handbook and policy library so it reflects current law and organizational needs, including policies relevant to globally distributed or remote international staff
  • Create new policies as needed based on corporate needs
  • Reinforce company values and mission through everyday culture and engagement touchpoints
  • Facilitate employee engagement surveys and help carry feedback into concrete improvements

Talent Acquisition & Onboarding

  • Create offer letters with strong attention to detail, ensuring accuracy of compensation, start date, classification, and terms before they go out
  • Manage onboarding and orientation processes for new hires, including considerations for remote, hybrid, and internationally based employees or contractors
  • Coordinate background checks, reference checks, and security onboarding

Training & Development

  • Track and manage mandatory training programs (anti-harassment, security awareness, etc.)
  • Promote continuous learning through workshops, mentorships, and e-learning tools
  • Help identify and coordinate training on AI literacy and responsible AI use as it becomes relevant to employees

Facility Security Support (Alternate FSO)

  • Serve as Alternate Facility Security Officer, assisting with personnel clearance tracking and documentation
  • Coordinate with government systems to maintain facility security compliance
  • Support the FSO with annual self-inspections and reporting

Office & Administrative Management

  • Maintain the integrity of employee records and compliance documentation
  • Support office-wide communication and coordination for HR-related announcements
  • Partner with leadership to implement company-wide initiatives as directed

Requirements:

Required

  • 5-7+ years of hands-on HR Generalist experience, comfortable owning the full HR function independently (no direct reports/team to lean on)
  • Solid knowledge of HR best practices, compliance, and labor law, with good day-to-day judgment on employee relations and compliance matters
  • Proven, hands-on experience with benefits administration and 401(k) plan management
  • Strong proficiency with Paylocity or similar HRIS systems
  • Curiosity and working familiarity with AI-enabled HR tools (ATS AI features, HR chatbots, generative AI for HR content), with willingness to explore, use, and recommend these tools day-to-day
  • Some exposure to or interest in global/international HR considerations (remote or cross-border employees/contractors)
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage confidential information with professionalism
  • Strong organizational and multitasking ability, comfortable being the sole HR practitioner in the organization

Preferred

  • FSO experience or willingness to serve in an Alternate FSO capacity
  • Prior experience supporting cleared government contractors
  • SHRM-CP or PHR certification
