We are looking for an experienced Controller to support a civil and infrastructure construction organization in Tamarac, Florida. This Long-term Contract position is ideal for a hands-on accounting leader who can oversee financial operations, strengthen reporting accuracy, and provide clear insight into project performance. The role will focus on construction accounting, cost control, purchasing oversight, and dependable financial analysis to help leadership make informed business decisions.

Responsibilities:
• Direct day-to-day accounting operations, ensuring financial records remain complete, accurate, and aligned with construction industry standards.
• Manage monthly, quarterly, and annual close activities, including review of journal entries, accruals, prepaid balances, and supporting schedules.
• Prepare and evaluate financial statements, cash flow reporting, and management summaries for company leadership.
• Monitor job cost activity, work-in-progress reporting, and progress billing to support accurate project financial tracking.
• Oversee purchasing and accounts payable functions, providing guidance to coordinators and improving consistency in transaction processing.
• Review account reconciliations for bank accounts, credit cards, and balance sheet items to confirm accuracy and resolve discrepancies promptly.
• Maintain the accounting framework within Sage 100 Contractor, including account structure and reporting integrity.
• Analyze construction costs, subcontractor expenses, and labor-related accounting data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
• Build and maintain documentation that supports financial transactions, audit readiness, and strong internal control practices.

Qualifications:

• At least 1 year of experience in accounting or finance, with direct exposure to construction industry operations.
• Practical knowledge of construction accounting principles, including job costing, work-in-progress tracking, and progress billing.
• Hands-on experience using Sage 100 Contractor in a financial leadership or accounting capacity.
• Strong understanding of month-end close procedures, financial statement preparation, and account reconciliation.
• Familiarity with purchasing, accounts payable workflows, and subcontractor cost management.
• Ability to compile documentation, maintain organized records, and support process consistency across financial activities.
• Clear analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify irregularities in project and company financial data.

Compensation

$66.50-$77.00 Hourly
