Payroll Specialist

Our Houston-based client is seeking an experienced Payroll Specialist to support a high-volume payroll operation with a strong emphasis on prevailing wage compliance. This position will focus primarily on payroll processing for both hourly and salaried employees across multiple states, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely payroll execution.

This is an excellent opportunity for a payroll professional who enjoys the processing side of payroll and has experience navigating complex wage requirements and compliance regulations.

Key Responsibilities

• Process multi-state payroll for hourly and salaried employees
• Ensure accurate calculation and payment of prevailing wages
• Review payroll data for accuracy, compliance, and completeness
• Audit payroll records and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner
• Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations
• Support payroll reporting and payroll-related audits
• Collaborate with HR, Finance, and operations teams to ensure payroll accuracy
• Assist with payroll inquiries and issue resolution as needed

Qualifications:

Qualifications

• 3+ years of payroll processing experience
• Experience processing multi-state payroll
• Strong knowledge of prevailing wage requirements and compliance
• Hands-on experience with SAP Payroll
• Understanding of payroll taxes, wage garnishments, deductions, and related regulations
• High attention to detail and strong organizational skills
• Ability to manage deadlines in a fast-paced environment

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience supporting large employee populations
• Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) designation is a plus
• Experience within construction, engineering, manufacturing, or other industries utilizing prevailing wage payroll
