Accounts Receivable Clerk

We are looking for an Accounts Receivable Clerk to join a team in North Andover, Massachusetts on a contract basis with the opportunity for a permanent position. This is a hybrid position - 3 days per week on-site, and 2 days per week remote after initial training. This position is well suited for someone who enjoys working with financial records, applying payments accurately, and providing responsive support to customers regarding account activity. The role offers the opportunity to contribute to day-to-day receivables operations while helping maintain timely and accurate cash flow processes.

Responsibilities:

• Process incoming customer payments and record cash receipts accurately within the accounts receivable system.

• Apply payments from lockbox, checks, and other remittance sources to the appropriate customer accounts.

• Review account balances, research discrepancies, and resolve unapplied or misapplied cash in a timely manner.

• Communicate with customers to address billing questions, payment status updates, and account-related concerns professionally.

• Reconcile receivable activity to supporting documentation and assist in maintaining accurate financial records.

• Monitor aging reports and support collection follow-up efforts to improve outstanding receivable balances.

• Collaborate with internal teams to investigate payment issues and ensure account information is current and correct.

Qualifications:

• Prior experience supporting accounts receivable functions in a business or finance environment.
• Hands-on ability with cash application activities, including posting and matching customer payments.
• Familiarity with lockbox processing and remittance handling procedures.
• Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate clearly and professionally.
• High attention to detail and accuracy when managing financial transactions and account records.
• Comfortable using accounting software, spreadsheets, and standard office applications.
• Ability to stay organized, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced setting.

Compensation

$25.00-$27.00 Hourly
