Human Resources Specialist
We are looking for a Human Resources Payroll Specialist to support key HR operations for our client in Lincoln, Rhode Island. This role focuses on benefits administration, payroll coordination, employee records management, and compliance activities that help ensure a smooth and accurate employee experience. The ideal candidate brings strong organizational skills, sound judgment, and the ability to handle confidential information with care.
Responsibilities:
• Process multi-state payroll activities as needed, ensuring pay data, time-off entries, taxes, and deductions are entered correctly and completed on schedule.
Manage employee benefit programs across medical, dental, vision, life, disability, retirement, and voluntary offerings, ensuring accurate administration and employee support.
• Guide employees through benefit eligibility, enrollment, and annual election periods by answering questions, explaining options, and resolving issues promptly.
• Perform ongoing benefits administration tasks such as processing enrollments and terminations, reviewing invoices, and reconciling carrier billing details.
• Coordinate leave administration, including statutory and state-related absences, while supporting accommodation requests in accordance with applicable requirements.
• Partner with external benefit providers and internal finance stakeholders to maintain accurate deductions, enrollments, and payments.
• Support year-end payroll and compliance activities, including audit preparation and verification of tax and benefits-related reporting documents.
• Maintain employee records tied to hires, transfers, promotions, and separations, while processing personnel changes with proper approvals.
• Conduct periodic audits of employee files and work authorization documentation to help maintain compliance with federal and state regulations.
• Handle employment verification requests and report workplace incidents to the appropriate workers’ compensation contacts.
Qualifications:
•3+ years of processing multi state payroll is required
Experience supporting human resources operations in a generalist or specialist capacity.
• Knowledge of employee benefits administration, including enrollments, billing review, and employee communications.
• Hands-on experience processing payroll, preferably in a multi-state environment.
• Familiarity with leave administration, accommodation support, and HR compliance practices.
• Ability to manage HR records accurately and maintain strict confidentiality with sensitive employee information.
• Experience working with HRIS and payroll systems to enter, update, and review employee data.
• Strong attention to detail, organization, and follow-through in a deadline-driven setting.
• Effective communication skills with the ability to explain policies and respond to employee questions clearly.
Compensation
