Staff Accountant
Responsibilities:
• Maintain the general ledger by recording financial activity, preparing journal entries, and ensuring transactions are posted accurately and on time.
• Complete account reconciliations on a regular basis to identify discrepancies, resolve issues, and support the integrity of financial reporting.
• Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable processes, including invoice review, payment tracking, collections support, and account balancing.
• Assist with corporate and sales tax activities by organizing supporting documentation, preparing data, and contributing to filing readiness.
• Use QuickBooks and Excel to compile financial information, analyze trends, and produce reports for accounting and operational review.
• Support contract-related financial administration by monitoring billing details, verifying terms, and helping maintain organized records.
• Apply accrual-based accounting practices to month-end and ongoing financial processes to ensure compliance with standard accounting principles.
• Partner with colleagues across the organization to answer accounting questions, address issues promptly, and meet reporting deadlines in a high-volume setting.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or a closely related field.• Strong working knowledge of accrual accounting and core accounting principles.
• Proven experience with journal entries, reconciliations, and general ledger maintenance.
• Advanced proficiency in QuickBooks and solid Excel skills for reporting and analysis.
• Background supporting accounts payable, accounts receivable, and tax-related accounting activities, including sales or corporate tax exposure.
• Ability to evaluate financial information independently and make sound decisions on accounting or billing matters.
• Valid New York State driver’s license and reliable transportation.
• Excellent organizational, communication, multitasking, and time management skills with a consistent record of meeting deadlines.
