Accounts Payable Clerk

We are looking for an Accounts Payable Clerk to support day-to-day payment operations for a busy team in Houston, Texas. This Long-term Contract position is ideal for someone who is highly organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable managing invoice activity with accuracy and consistency. The person in this role will help maintain timely vendor payments, strong financial records, and dependable accounts payable support.

Responsibilities:
• Review incoming invoices for completeness, accuracy, and proper approval before processing
• Assign the correct accounting codes to invoices and enter payment details into the accounts payable system
• Prepare and support regular check runs to ensure vendors are paid on schedule
• Match invoices with related documentation and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner
• Maintain organized payment records and accounts payable files for audit and reporting purposes
• Communicate with internal teams and vendors to address invoice questions, payment status updates, and missing information

Qualifications:

• Previous experience in accounts payable or a closely related accounting support role
• Working knowledge of invoice coding, invoice entry, and payment processing procedures
• Experience assisting with check runs and routine vendor payment activities
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify and correct discrepancies
• Comfortable using accounting software and standard Microsoft Office applications
• Effective written and verbal communication skills for working with vendors and internal stakeholders

Compensation

$25.00-$28.00 Hourly
